Gouldian Finches and Water Lillies at Kakadu. Early morning light turns the single blossom almost iridescent, drawing the eye so completely that one could be forgiven for missing the tiny, jewel-like finches darting between the stalks
Thanks mate, It's a bit of a cheat, the ref shots for the lillies I took in Cairns, but theyre the same species as in NT. This shot is awfully over-saturated too, the detail in the blossom is washed out, I really should get into photoshop and fix it
Given how insanely colourful they are up close, they are annoyingly inconspicuous when set against the vast backdrop of the outback.
